Welcome to my official page. My name is Dr. Onisim Florin and I am a primary care physician specializing in medical oncology and chemotherapy, with over 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Throughout my career, I have dedicated every day to my patients and the fight against one of the most difficult conditions of our time – cancer.
I worked at Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital, where I held the position of head physician of the oncological outpatient clinic for years. In a county where resources are limited and needs are immense, I was, for many years, the only active oncologist, caring for thousands of patients. Now I have chosen to reinvent myself and continue my activity, using the latest IT solutions (state-of-the-art digital assistance) to continue to offer support, modern treatments, and a chance at life to all those who are facing this serious illness.
My Medical Career
My professional journey has been entirely dedicated to the treatment of cancer. I chose oncology because it is a specialty where science intertwines with humanity in the most profound way. Treating an oncological patient does not just mean prescribing a chemotherapy regimen, but also involves empathy, patience, understanding, and a joint fight against a perfidious enemy.
Within the Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital, I carried out my activity both in the specialty outpatient clinic and in coordinating chemotherapy treatments. Tens of thousands of consultations, monitoring, and therapeutic schemes have been carried out over the years, at a sustained pace, often exceeding the legal norms in force regarding the maximum number of daily consultations.
My Professional Mission
As an oncologist, my mission is to save lives, but also to offer patients hope and clarity at a time when everything seems unclear and overwhelming. I have met thousands of patients, each with their own story, their suffering, and their fears, and I have always sought the best therapeutic approach, personalized according to the type of cancer, the stage of the disease, the patient’s general condition, and the available options.
During my career, the small number of oncologists represented a major challenge, but also an immense responsibility. Now I have chosen to carry out my professional activity in the private sector to eliminate time-consuming bureaucratic and institutional constraints and to be able to focus on this innovative direction
Firm Position Against Non-Scientifically Validated Alternative Therapies
Throughout my career, I have witnessed numerous waves of misinformation and pseudo-therapies that endanger the lives of oncological patients. There have been and still are many controversies related to so-called “miracle herbal recipes” or severe dietary regimens, promoted publicly as an alternative to chemotherapy.
I have taken a firm and public stance against these practices, explaining repeatedly that many of the “miracle products” can act as non-specific biostimulators, which do not differentiate between healthy and malignant cells. In other words, these compounds can also stimulate the development of cancer cells, worsening the evolution of the disease.
I have publicly warned that the use of products as primary treatments can lead to increased mortality among oncological patients. It is not acceptable that evidence-based medicine be overshadowed by illusions promoted by people without medical training, regardless of their notoriety.
Any alternative or natural treatment, if not supported by solid clinical studies, can become a major risk to the patient’s life. I am not against supplements, but I believe that they should only be administered under medical supervision, for adjuvant purposes, during certain periods, and never as a substitute for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, surgical interventions, etc.
Ethics, Responsibility and Empathy
I firmly believe that an oncologist must demonstrate professionalism, lucidity, and emotional balance, but also real empathy for the patient’s suffering. Oncological patients not only need effective treatments, but also human support, patience, and a partner on the path in the fight against the disease.
I have chosen to be that partner. To explain the diagnosis, options, risks and benefits of each medical decision in a way that everyone understands. There are no easy decisions in oncology, but I believe that informed decisions, made together with the patient, are the most correct.
A Life in the Service of Patients
I am grateful for the trust that the thousands of patients who have crossed the threshold of my office have given me. Many of them have become examples of courage, resilience, and confidence. Their success is also mine. Their recovery is the strongest motivation to move forward on a new path characterized by innovative technological solutions.
